Annika Rembe to lead Swedish Institute after Expo

Ms. Annika Rembe, Commissioner General of the Swedish Committee for Expo 2010 in Shanghai, was appointed today by the Swedish Government as Director General of the Swedish Institute (SI), to start from October 1st, 2010.

The Swedish Institute is a public agency working to promote interest and confidence in Sweden around the world. The Institute has been closely involved in the Swedish participation in Expo 2010, i.e. through  the joint development of www.swedenexpo.cn and www.sweden.cn, the cultural performance on Sweden Pavilion Day at Expo 2010, Swedish Fashion and other.

Ms. Rembe will start her new position from October 1st, 2010 but will remain Commissioner General for the Swedish participation at Expo 2010, and will continue to take an active part in, and responsibility for, the operation until its end.

Prior to her appointment as Commissioner General for the Swedish participation at Expo 2010, Ms. Rembe was Head of Market Communications & Public Affairs at Invest in Sweden Agency (now Invest Sweden), the Swedish national investment promotion agency. Ms. Rembe has been leading the work to promote Sweden as well as the Baltic Sea Region as preferred investment locations.

Ms Rembe has also been a member of The Council for the Promotion of Sweden and the network of Baltic Sea Region Investment Promotion Agencies (BIPA) as well as the European Policy Advocacy Group.

Prior to joining ISA ten years ago, Ms. Rembe held different positions in the area of publishing and media as managing director, publisher and author. She has also a background as lawyer and holds a Master of Law  from the University of Stockholm.

Ms. Rembe lives in Stockholm with her husband and her two daughters.
