Organization
The organization around the Swedish participation consisted primarily of a committee. In addition, there was also a national committee with a more advisory role. The Commissioner General was leading the work with the Swedish participation together with the management team.
The committee had the overall responsibility for the Swedish participation in the Expo 2010. The chairman and the members of the committee were appointed by the Minister for Trade. Six members were appointed; three representing the Swedish government and three representing the Swedish business life. The committee functioned as a board of directors and had a decision making role.
Just like in many previous Swedish participations in World Expos, a so called national committee was also created for Expo 2010. The national committee’s role was to function as a coordination and discussion forum, with the purpose to create support and commitment. The members were appointed by the Minister for Trade and consisted of senior representatives from the public and private sector in Sweden.
Annika Rembe was the Swedish Commissioner General. Her role was described as being responsible for the operative work, to lead and decide how the operation should be carried out, as well as keeping the committee informed about the development. The Commissioner General was supported by a management team consisting of Deputy General Commissioner Nina Ekstrand, Pavilion Director Christine Engdahl and Program Director Anna Rygård.
