The Swedish participation was financed by the government and the business sector. The total budget was around 150 million SEK. Since the main purpose of the Swedish participation was trade promotion, Swedish companies, regions and organizations with an interest in China were invited to get involved. Also Swedish governmental institutions and organizations with a connection to China were engaged in the operation. Serveral suppliers played crucial roles . The Swedish participation had a total of more than 110 partners.

The partners were divided into four different groups depending chiefly on level of involvement:

  • Official Sponsors
  • Official Partners
  • Official Suppliers
  • Official Organisations

Throughout the World Expo, the different partners could use the conference departement (VIP Secion) in the Swedish pavilion for different activities, such as events for staff, networking and collaboration activities, board meetings, marketing events for Chinese customers and forums.

The VIP Section was highly appreciated by the users. When the pavilion closed, the number of events held there totalled 170, and the number of guests amounted to 33 000. The VIP area was used 139 days out of 184.
