Welcome to the Swedish pavilion – a dynamic meeting place at Expo 2010!

The Swedish pavilion at Expo 2010 is a temporary building contains the Swedish exhibition, VIP areas and other facilities such as offices. The 3,000 square metre building is constructed on a section approximately the same size, and is located in the European section alongside the other Nordic countries.

Swedish engineering and design company SWECO is designing the Swedish pavilion. Here they describe their concept:

“Nature is close to the heart of every Swede and this makes it a natural starting point for innovation. Nature is a source of inspiration and creativity. What makes a city attractive is the networks which are created between people. An open, inviting and enriched urban room provides a good base for life energy and innovation. The pavilion will reflect the meeting between city and nature and the optimism and strength that can be created where they come together.”

The large public exhibition in the pavilion reflects Sweden and Swedish innovation, and is visited by thousands of people every day. After the visitors have been through the exhibition, they are offered Swedish coffee and can buy typical Swedish presents and souvenirs in the gift shop. The Swedish exhibition should be an “aha” experience; read more about the concept in the exhibition section.

The VIP section of the pavilion is available for specially invited guests. A programme of different activities is arranged in this section, including lectures, seminars, film screenings, receptions and dinners. Here, and on many different levels, Sweden and China meet.

The companies co-sponsoring the Swedish participation are able to invite their business contacts to special events in the VIP area, which has a large auditorium along with a number of smaller reception rooms. All meetings are possible. The kitchen enables Swedish culinary specialties to be prepared for Chinese guests along with a selection of Chinese dishes.

The exhibition and the VIP section in the Swedish pavilion have the requisite technical equipment, with a technology room providing the base for ongoing service. The pavilion also provides office space for pavilion personnel and visiting co-financiers.
