Program

The program activities were carried out with the pavilion as a base and aimed to create Swedish-Chinese meetings, and to communicate the Swedish theme of Spirit of Innovation.

Four forums were organized by the Committee during the Expo period. These were the Spirit of Innovation Forum (24 May) with a focus on innovation, Symbio City Forum (1-2 July), which focused on sustainable urban development, CSR Forum (11-12 August) when issues concerning corporate social responsibility were discussed and Symbio Care Forum (13 -14 October), which had health care as a main theme. In addition to these forums also several other activities with different partners were arranged. The single largest one of these was the celebration of Sweden’s National Day (23 May), which included a visit by King Carl Gustaf and the Deputy Prime Minister Maud Olofsson as well as of an official delegation and of a business delegation. A variety of program activities were also carried out spontanously on the initiative of the guides, such as story times for children who visited the exhibition.

The program activities encompassed 450 performances, most of which were inlcuded in the cultural program, Street by Sweden. More than 80 program participants were involved in organizing the program activities. The public areas in the pavilion was the scene for Street by Sweden and many of the performances were created in interaction with visitors. The content was music, performing arts and contemporary circus of many kinds and the improvisation was a recurring theme.

The exhibition’s final room hosted a stage for interactive and creative activities, the Innovation Stage. On this stage a mixture of closed and open activities were performed. It was always possible for the visitors to the exhibition to follow closely the activities that were carried out on the innovation stage. In several cases visitors were also invited to participate them selves in the activities.
