The Swedish Exhibition – Spirit of Innovation

The exhibition was created to attract to two main target groups; Chinese decision makers and Young Urbans, but it was also designed for children.

The exhibition was about the Swedish spirit of innovation and consisted mainly of five different rooms with different themes; Swedish Atmosphere, Environment, Solutions, Innovations and the Swedish Innovative Society.

The Atmosphere Hall was the first room the visitors entered, and here they were transported from the bustling Shanghai to calm and crisp Sweden with soothing music and pictures. Photo: Stefan Geens

In the Hall of Environmental Challenges Swedish examples on how the nation has handled difficult environmental problems were showcased, for example the waters in Stockholm, the Öresunds area and faulty forestry. Photo: Stefan Geens

The playfulness that permeated the entire exhibition was actually shown already outside the pavilion, where two large Dala horses were displayed as symbols for Sweden. However, most popular among the little visitors was the Villa Villekulla playground, which entertained more than 230 000 children during the Expo’s six months. Photo: Lily Huang
